Canadian rapper, singer, and songwriter, Aubrey Drake Graham or Drake as he is fondly called, has been labeled “creepy” after Billie Eilish claimed the rapper has her digits and texts her.
Oops! She probably shouldn’t have let that slip out.
Eilish 17, said Drake 33, is “the nicest dude [she’s] ever spoken to” in an interview with Vanity Fair.
“I’ve only like texted him, but he’s so nice,” she said. “Like, he does not need to be nice, you know what I mean? He’s at a level in his life where he doesn’t need to be nice, but he is, you know?”
While Eilish views their interactions positively, some of her fans have a different opinion.
Recall that in 2018, the Hotline Bling crooner received backlash after it was revealed he regularly texts “I miss you” to Stranger Things star Millie Bobby Brown when she was just 14. She also said the rapper gives her advice on boys.
Fans of Eilish are worried and call Drake’s behavior, grooming.
Grooming is when someone builds a relationship, trust and emotional connection with a child or young person so they can manipulate, exploit and abuse them. Anybody can be a groomer, no matter their age, gender or race. Grooming can take place over a short or long period of time – from weeks to years. Groomers may also build a relationship with the young person’s family or friends to make them seem trustworthy or authoritative.
A twitter user asked why a 33-year-old man texts a 17-year-old girl?
Another argued it could be an innocent act and perhaps he just dishes out advice on how the industry works. Or perhaps Billie sees him as a role model.
